Do-gooders

1264) Some of my younger readers don’t remember the show, Leave it to Beaver, but as I read todays verse, 2 Thessalonians 3:14, it came to mind. In the show, The show’s story often takes place within Beaver’s classroom and there’s a girl named Judy that is noteworthy. Judy always tries to appear to be

Busy not Busybodies

1263) There is a learned behavior some people use that is very destructive; the action I’m referring to is leveling. This is when someone focuses on the behaviors of others and because this person thinks so poorly of themselves, they seek to bring down others so they will be on his or her level. A

The Christians to Avoid

1262) I used to listen to radio host Paul Harvey’s programs while I’d eat lunch. He always had something fascinating to share, and one thing that sticks out in my memory is how he would honor couples around the nation who had been married 70 years or more. That’s a long time! I have known

God’s Justice: Desires

1261) For many years, I was blessed to be a part of a chorus led by an individual who is well known in the classical music world. Because I had no serious background in music, I learned a lot from him. One thing my friend would constantly point out in our rehearsals are the notes

God’s Justice: Fruit

1260) Social media has left a huge electronic footprint upon life as we know it. I have seen many prints of ugliness produced by it, but there have also been many beautiful ones. One of these positive results is that social media has allowed me to connect with people who have come and gone within

God’s Justice: There Will Be a Day

1259) Because I’m such a visual learner, there are things I have seen that have struck me deeply. One of these things was while watching the mini-series, Roots. It’s been a while since I’ve seen it, but I vividly remember the part where the slave, Kunta Kinte, ran away from his slavery only to be

God’s Justice: Needed Relief

1258) Everyone handles stress differently. Lately, I’ve been investigating the signs that my body is in distress. First, my stomach feels the beginnings of acid creeping in. Next, my abdominal muscles contract and my breathing becomes faster, denying my body the oxygen it needs because these breaths are too shallow. Finally, my heart rate goes

God’s Justice: Fair Trading’s

1257) For many reasons, too many to list here, I have a soft spot for others who appear to feel remorse whenever they have treated me improperly. It hurts my heart to see someone in pain, even if they are the ones who caused it, and I let them off the hook. But sometimes I

God’s Justice: A Closer Look

1256) I have been assigned jury duty five times. The first time I was assigned was when I was to be on my honeymoon, so, fortunately, I got that waived. The other times, I was called to serve on the panel of jurors. I remember thinking what a responsibility I was given, and I hoped

Miracles are Overrated

1255) Through the years, I have kept a quote book where I jot things that strike me as interesting, intriguing and everything in-between. Here’s one of my favorites: “Faith for a miracle is easier to come by than trusting the Lord when no miracle happens.” Margaret Graham.   Sometimes, we put too much emphasis on
