Groaning

2618) There are times in our lives when horrific things happen. It’s not something we like, but unfortunately, it can be a reality.

As I reflect on this, I recall some situations that were so damaging and horrific that I have fallen on my knees and asked God to groan for me.

What do I mean?  Romans 8:26 reveals a powerful truth. It reads, In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. (NIV)

When my heart is full of pain or is a witness to it, I ask the Holy Spirit to groan on my behalf because I have no words that adequately describe how deeply I am weighed down and overwhelmed. Sometimes the most important prayers come in a groan.
