The Whole Truth

2581) So far in my life, I have had jury duty 6 times. I’m not sure how I have been so lucky to receive so many summonses, though I have really not minded doing it, but it’s a fact.

While in the courtroom, I have heard several people being sworn in for a trial. Do you solemnly swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth? So help you God.

As I listened to the dialogue in a court hearing, I have thought it’s kind of sad that we have to insist on a witness vowing to tell the truth. We can conclude that people will often bend the facts to suit or justify behavior.

I also remember Hebrews 6:18. This verse reminds us that God does not lie. He cannot lie. Jesus said he was the Way, the Truth, and the Life. (John 14:6).

If we embrace this verse, we can read all about God’s relationship with us in the Bible and be confident that God always speaks the truth. God doesn’t need to be sworn in because he is Truth.
