2502) It amazes me to read about the miracles of Jesus. I try to stand in the place of the one receiving the miracle and wonder what it would have felt like.
The miracle I think of today is found in Matthew 8:5-13. Here, a centurion comes to Jesus about healing his servant who is dying. He states that Jesus can just say the word and it will be done from a distance.
Jesus tells others of how proud he is to see this centurion’s faith. Simply put, a man stands on what he has heard of Jesus’ words and who he is, and then acts upon this hearing.
When I put this event together with Romans 10:17, where Paul says faith comes from hearing the words of Jesus, I realize I can also be like this centurion. I can hear Jesus’ words and then act upon them in faith.
When this happens, I see the smile of Jesus and hear his words that I too have great faith. This is a blessing that I can see in my mind and experience. We can hear the words of Jesus as many during his day did. Will we take Jesus at his word?
