Last Days: Brutality

1311) I enjoy going to the zoo and have discovered there is a difference between an “animal” zoo and a “people” zoo. The animal zoos are ones that have large, open habitats for the animals and you watch them at a distance. The animals are comfortable because they are in environments that are like their

Last Days: Without Self-Control

1310) The second dachshund I owned was a little red, short-haired boy named Danny. Of all my dogs, he was, by far, the smartest. He knew how to figure out any food puzzle. If you ordered him, he would go to any place. He figured out how to grab a pound of ground beef off

Last Days: Implacability

1308) Soothing. Isn’t it a wonderful word? To be soothed is what many seek. Why? Because we live in a world that is harsh and will continue to be more so as time passes. I yearn to be soothed after a tough day. I’ve learned what I need for this to happen and do my

Last Days: Without Love

1307) It’s common for people to research their family trees and even delve into genetic testing for multiple reasons. Many find the need to discover who they are in relationship to family patterns and more. After all, families are supposed to be the place where you feel loved, accepted and supported. We all have the

Last Days: Unholy

1306) I had the privilege of attending Bible college, where I studied under many individuals who treated God’s word with integrity. Nothing was taught as truth that was not truth. There was no disguising a personal agenda with Biblical truth. We were also challenged to check the Bible ourselves to confirm this. I often did.

Last Days: Ungrateful

1305) Teaching the principles of cause and effect is fun. I’ll come up with a list of the “causes” and the kids must fill in the “effects.” It’s fun because kids add their own experiences to their answers. For example, if I put as a cause: you drop a fragile plate, they might finish the

Last Days: Disobedient to Parents

1304) As a teacher in the upper third decade of working with children, I have seen many changes. In my first couple of years, my students were grounded in families of love and accountability. I could see this plainly in my dealings with both the kids and the parents. As the years have passed, this

Last Days: Abusive

1303) Paul reveals in 2 Timothy 3:2 that in the last days, people will be abusive. This word conjures up a specific image in my mind and, had I not researched further into this word in the original Greek language Paul was using, I would not know that a better translation here would be blasphemous.

Last Days: Proud

1302) When my three siblings and I were young, my mother often had the privilege of taking all four of us to the grocery store. It was a time we children found an adventure, but I’m pretty sure my mother did not. (I understand this now, Mom!) There were many entertaining things to do at

Last Days: Boastful

1301) A song on my playlist currently is What You Think I Am by The Choir. It’s there because of the powerful energy of the music but also because of the line, “I’m a whole lot better and a whole lot worse, than what you think I am.” As the song reveals, people are complex.
