Long-term vs. Short-term

2475) When my young scholars come to me in some sort of angst, I listen and then, if appropriate, I’ll ask them to evaluate whether the problem is a short-term one (such as a difficult substitute teacher) or a long-term one (one of their everyday teachers).

It’s hard for tweens to make this evaluation because everything in their world is “now”. But don’t adults also find it difficult?

To get better at this, I need to mindfully look and evaluate each day. Things we practice a lot will often result in our doing it better.
