When I contacted his mom, she took him to get his eyes checked, and sure enough, he needed glasses. Afterward, the mother told me he didn’t need to see at that distance in their home as he did in my classroom, and they didn’t know he needed glasses.

When I read Colossians 3:2, I think of eyesight. Paul tells us here to keep our eyes on things above and not on the things of the earth.

We need to focus regularly on the far-sighted things that last for eternity. In so doing, we can make informed priorities in our lives. A good rule of thumb often is: if it matters for eternity, I will choose to invest my time.
