2563) In my mind, one of the most satisfying times of the day is when we turn off the light, slip under the covers, and prepare for a good night’s sleep.

I will often thank God at this time because it’s a time I feel satisfied and safe. It’s almost as if God covers me with his blanket.

It’s interesting to me that 2 Corinthians 5:21 does reveal God covers me. Paul tells us that Jesus’ righteousness covers our sinful hearts.

When Jesus died for my sins, he took on all the sinful things I have done, am doing, and will do. This had to happen, so that Jesus paid for all my sins when he died.

Because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, and my asking for God to accept his sacrifice instead of mine, I am righteous because I am covered with Jesus’ blanket. So, tonight, when I first turn off the light, I know that a warm blanket isn’t the only thing covering me.
