It is my grandmother who comes to mind when I read Ephesians 3:20. It reads, now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us. (ESV)

God is generous way beyond what we ask for. Think of when 5,000 people were hungry and Jesus fed them using only 5 loaves and 2 fish. When the meal was done, there were 12 full baskets left over.  (Matthew 14:13-21)

How about when Peter was fishing, and he caught nothing all night. When Jesus told him to put his net out again, Peter’s catch was way beyond what his boat could store. (Luke 5:1-11)

We have a God who more than takes care of our needs. The tricky part of this is he knows what we need and it may differ greatly from what we think needs to be done. Accepting that God gives way beyond what we ask or think, and the specifics that go with it, is an act of faith. God knows what I need better than I do.
