2413) A long time ago, something disturbing and yet endearing happened to me. Someone was giving me a hard time, calling me names, yelling degrading things, and more. My body curved into itself because I thought I deserved it; that that person was right about me.
Someone who was close by didn’t think this was right, so they jumped up, took the person by the scruff of the neck and let them know this was not to continue.
I can still feel my rapid heartbeat and the sweat that trickled on my brow. I was terrified because I despise fighting and at the same time, touched that someone else thought I didn’t deserve to be treated this way.
Ephesians 6:19 refers to something similar that God does on our behalf. He tells us to be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. (ESV).
We can be strong in our faith because we know God fights on our behalf. It’s not about deserving; it’s about love. This brings healing.
