Rest Needed

1356) Having a puppy in the house has reminded me that rest is a valuable thing. Cayce (pronounced K-C) is always on the move and before the roosters even stretch and yawn, he’s up, ready for action. He has become a better sleeper at night but I remember the first several weeks after we brought

Rivers are Amazing

1355) Not too far from where I live is a river that rushes under a bridge. When I drive by and I see and hear the water moving quickly, I am amazed that this water is always flowing, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. If I’m in a contemplative mood, I wonder where

Belonging

1354) Being part of a group or family is important. We have this place within us that agrees when God said in Genesis 2:18 it is not good for man to be alone. God has put within us the desire to belong and be accepted by others. Because we are fallible, we don’t always attempt

Perceived Abandonment

1353) Feeling hurt within a relationship is not unusual. It also doesn’t matter why you feel hurt, because many say these days that your perception of being hurt matters. If someone perceives you were being mean to them, they need to call it on you and this moves the ball into your court to mend

Expensive Calls

1352) If you are below the age of 30, you probably don’t remember a time when you needed to wait until the phone company lowered its rates so you could make long-distance calls cheaper. This was when you were charged by the minute and if it was a call during “prime time,” you could run

Friendships Can Be Tricky

1351) Friendship is always tricky when you are a tween. If you observe kids around 11 or 12 years old, their friendships always sway. What I mean by this is they really don’t know the anatomy of a genuine friend. Kids this age don’t know a genuine friend is someone you can bounce things off

What is God Like?

1350) Take a moment and consider what you picture when you hear the name, God. Do you see a heavenly being who has gray hair and a gray beard? What emotions do you see on God’s face? Do you see a smile? Anger? As I consider this, I wonder if what I picture is the

Bored?

1349) Have you ever heard a child say they are bored? A better question may be, have you ever been bored? I can’t remember the last time I have and as I consider this, there is good and bad to it. If I’m bored then perhaps, I’m not taking some responsibility I have seriously. If

And Justice for All

1348) It is a wonderful thing that in our country, our legal system brings justice, but does it always? Of course not. When humans are behind anything, fallibility is always lurking. Because of this, many decide the form of justice that must take place and if it doesn’t, they explode. It might surprise you I

Rotten

13347) Of all the household jobs that need to be done, one of my least favorite is cleaning out the refrigerator. When I take everything out to clean the shelves, I will always find at least one thing that is rotten and needs to be thrown out. This is why I hate this job. Seeing
