Your Example

2612) When I worked with kids, I was often aware of the responsibilities I had and one of them was to practice what I preached. My example was very important.

If I told a troubled teen to choose his words wisely when in conflict, I should be a living example of this for him in order to understand its importance.

In 1 Corinthians 8:14, Paul reminds us why our example is so important. We are supposed to practice what we preach.

If we proclaim that kindness is important, then we need to be kind to the staff at the doctor’s office.

If we say we should be quick to listen and slow to anger (James 1:19) and we charge right into traffic and harass the driver that’s irritating, that’s not being a good example. We are always examples to others. The question is, what sort of example are we?
