2578) Having written 2,578 of these minute-devotions, I might have mentioned the following conversation before, but since it’s important, I’ll provide a recap.

I had a professor in Bible college who was the best and effective teacher I’ve ever had. He was knowledgeable, practical, and godly. Circumstances led me to his office door one day, and that knock changed my life.

To my delight and joy, Dr. Miller took me under his wing and led me in a direction that brought me healing, which I have since been able to give to others.

Later in my college years, Dr. Miller left to go back to his church, and I missed his classes and wisdom.

One weekend, he came back to speak at a conference. I had been told that his calendar was over-booked, but I wanted to just say hi to him.

I went up to him after one of his sessions and acknowledged that I knew he was busy, but I just wanted to say hello. He looked me in the eye and said, “I have set aside lunch tomorrow for you. Does this work?”

My eyes filled with tears, and I nodded my head. Dr. Miller was so busy with very important things, and yet, he had time for me; helping me to conclude that I was important, too.

Romans 2:11 reminds me of this very thing. God doesn’t have people who are more important than others; his calendar is always open to each of us, and he looks forward to spending time with us.

If I could remember to think of this more often, I could walk knowing that the God of all the universe wants to spend time with me. This makes me special and valued. P.S. God sees you in the same way!
