2564) I have heard the saying, even when your life is full and busy, you make time for the things you really want to do. I think this is fairly accurate.

What I have been contemplating about this thought is that there are some things we should make time for, and 1 John 4:1reveals it.

The verse reads, Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. (ESV)

As God’s children, it is our responsibility to weigh in on what others do and say in the name of God. This isn’t something you can just open the Bible, read one verse, and you’re good.

Instead, read your Bible, pray about it, and meditate on it. This takes time.

By looking deeper into something someone says and does in the name of God doesn’t mean we are judgmental, it is an act of obedience.

What it means is we’re looking to see if what is being presented lines up with God’s word and not just the word of a church leader, a theological movement, or a denominational church.

It is our responsibility to look into who we’re allowing to feed us spiritually. This is not the same as looking for spiritual leaders who agree with our theology. There is a difference. Make time.
