Liar

2444) We live in a world that’s full of lies. Statements of untruth; lies of omission; lies disguised as truth.

Because we are exposed to untruths so often, it may be natural to carry this exposure and paint the things God says with the same bucket of lies painted with a brush that enhances the pigment.

Satan has used many colors of untruth to cause damage to our relationship with God. Genesis 3:4 is an example. When Adam and Eve told him what God’s truth was about the danger of eating from the forbidden tree; Satan, wrapped up as a serpent, said pointedly, you will not surely die. Adam and Eve bought into the lie that changed their lives and ours as well.

Numbers 23:19 tells us specifically that God does not participate in this culture of untruths. He does not lie. Ever.

To summarize, Satan disguises a lie to appear like truth, while God is the Truth (John 14:6) and does not lie.

It’s important to ask the Holy Spirit to help us discern these differences. It’s not always easy to do.
