One of my favorite ones to use with my kids is, no one can get your goat if they don’t know where it’s tied.
When I have said this to my young scholars, I’ve received the most puzzled and funny (to me) looks.
Mrs. Grant, I don’t have any goats. I smile and explain it to them, and now several of them use this saying and are delighted to explain to their listeners what it means.
1 John 3:18 gives us an avenue to explain what the author meant when he said, let us not love in word or talked but in deed and in truth.
In other words, put your money where your mouth is. Your actions should line up with what you say you believe.
