The Long Run

2539) I have a friend who is a runner. I have a lot of respect for her, as this is something I really don’t like doing. I jokingly say to her, the only time I run is if someone is chasing me.

The term, the long run, doesn’t typically refer to running. It’s the ability to look ahead and see a goal, and that it’s worthy of the work to get there.

Seeing the long run of things is helpful. 1 Peter 5:10 gives us an example of this. It reads, and after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace . . . will himself restore, confirm, strengthen and establish you. I believe much of this promise won’t be fulfilled until the next life. It’s hard to live by, the long run, but it can be so helpful when you struggle with something now. The choice to look ahead in a crisis is an act of faith.
