2387) I admit I struggle with unconditional mercy and forgiveness. I think if someone knows God will always extend mercy and forgiveness toward them, why would they want to do the right thing?
It seems like the gifts God gives us, mentioned in Daniel 9:9, mercy and forgiveness, should have certain conditions; after all, without that, God will get taken advantage of continually.
When I stop and think about this conversation taking place inside my head, I realize I’ve moved myself into God’s place, wanting to control things with my own understanding.
I don’t need to straighten God out. He knows what he’s continually offering because he knows the price his son had to pay for it. This payment covered everything, or else it wouldn’t be merciful or forgiving. He knows what he’s doing and doesn’t ask me to help him.
