1623) John 3:16 is such a familiar verse that sometimes we don’t look at it closely, which is good to do from time to time.

The verse starts out, For God so loved the world. We’ll stop there. Who does “the world” include? Yes, all people throughout history and the future, but let’s dig a little deeper. “The world” includes everything that anyone has done. God so loves: the liars, the cheaters, the righteous, the evil, the givers and murders. The faithful and unfaithful, the schemers, the loyal. The betrayers and the hot-tempered….

This list can go on forever, but what I’d like us to think about today is the fact that when God loves the world, it is an all-encompassing choice for everyone, including you.
