Chaplain Miller narrowed his eyes in concentration. “Yes, there are dozens of verses in the Bible about being a servant to others. We are, indeed, called to be servants of Christ, and that means, in part, that we minister to others. But when we take on so much we can’t function, we’re hindered from being fully used by Christ, and our compassion becomes a vulnerability.

“It’s ironic,” he continued. “Satan can use the strength God has given you in this manner, and in doing so, take away the blessing you get from giving to other people.”
