2590) When I taught school, sometimes I needed to help my young scholars distinguish the difference between wisdom and knowledge. I usually approached it like this: knowledge means you understand a fact or concept. Wisdom is knowing how to best use the knowledge just learned.

The Bible offers much advice on wisdom, and Daniel 12:3 contains a verse I had not previously considered regarding this topic. Here, the author tells us that those who are wise will shine or stand out in life. Why? Because knowledge is often at the forefront of learning and wisdom an afterthought.

This verse also tells us that the wise have a responsibility. The wise should also lead many to righteousness or right-ness; a biblical relationship with God.

It’s not enough to just stand out as wise; if you don’t follow-through and use this wisdom to help encourage others in our faith, we haven’t done all God wants us to do.

These things don’t have to involve teaching or leading a Bible study alone; they can be seen in our example and the influence it can provide. The wise have a responsibility.
