2576) There’s a yearning I believe Christians have, that maybe isn’t always obvious. It causes us to yearn for heaven and the good things it includes.
This yearning believes there will be no more tears, death, sorrow, and crying in heaven. Revelation 21:4.
Where some of us go wrong with this promise is that we sometimes, even without thinking about it, assume these things should happen now.
I’m going to pray that someone will get better. That the pain in my heart will abate. That healing will mend broken relationships and so much more.
Yes, I believe God sometimes does these things here on earth, but ultimately, what my spirit yearns for is what God promises in the next life.
Though it may feel cruel, I have a yearning in my heart for heaven, a desire for the things God doesn’t promise in this life. And yet, despite of this yearning, God promises to be with me through everything.
This “being with” is what we will experience in heaven. But the good news is, he doesn’t reserve his promise only for the next life. He tells us he will never leave or forsake us now. Hebrews 13:5. I think that as God’s children; we have the desire for the promises of the next life, and we can hold on to the fact that God’s being with us isn’t only reserved for then.
