2570) As one who has recently retired, I am still amazed at how much I worked. There was my teaching job and all the work that came with it. Then there are my writing and sewing jobs, which I often had to squeeze in-between everything else I had to do when not teaching.

Once retired, I can sit back and catch my breath. I have time, and now that I do; I hope to find a good middle ground between overwork and purposelessness.

This balance I am seeking reminded me of something I read concerning the Israelites stuck beside the Red Sea on one side and Pharaoh and the Egyptians chasing them on the other.

When the Israelites cried out to Moses about their predicament, he told them to not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord. Exodus 14:13.

Sometimes we can get so busy that we don’t take time to look for the promises and provisions God gives us. They aren’t hidden, and yet you could miss them if you don’t search for them. God does so much for us each day, and taking the time to stand still and look at his provisions is a blessing in itself.
