2569) When I hear or read the word, give, I often think about money. I can give to the church. I can give to a student who may need something. I can give to the Cancer Society.

All of these involve giving, but people can give more than just money. We can offer our time. We can make a commitment. We can give love.

All giving carries a promise; it’s found in Luke 6:38. Here, we are reminded that God gives back to us when we give to others. And the verse goes on to say that God will give us far more than we give.

Giving shouldn’t exist solely to receive a blessing from God. This seems to cancel it out. What we receive is what we give ourselves in that moment. Matthew 6:1-4.

Giving should be an overflow of the blessings God has given us. Taking a regular inventory of what God has given us is the very thing which helps us give to others.
