Paul speaks of these degrees in 2 Corinthians 3:8. Here he tells us God can transform us from one degree of glory to another. These transformations often come in small adjustments because large ones are much more difficult to deal with.

It’s easy to realize this truth when we think of a flight plan for a plane. One small degree off this plan can lead to a route which gets further and further away from the original destination.

The opposite is what Paul is addressing. If a flight plan can veer off by a degree and wind up completely off the mark, how much better it is to adjust by a degree in the right direction. Transformation by a degree is a good thing.
