The Bible and Inertia

2548) I was reading an article recently that focused on inertia. I found it interesting because I can plainly see its fingerprint all around me, including in the mirror.

Inertia basically means things love to keep doing what they are doing. Patterns form quickly, and once they establish themselves, changing course will be a fight, even a small one.

As a recent retiree, I have so much I want to do, but I also want to keep in mind that my choice of activities or lack thereof could set up a pattern that will soon morph into inertia.

Proverbs 19:15 clarifies that God wants to warn us about the negative things concerning inertia. It reads, slothfulness casts into a deep sleep, and an idle person will suffer hunger.

I’m aware of resistance to change, and I understand that being productive can become a habit. I don’t need to be a workaholic, but want to be sensitive to what I am or am not doing.
