Be Still and Listen

2517) When I read about Mary and Martha in Luke 10:38-42, I see myself in Martha. In this passage, Martha works hard to take care of her guests while Mary sits and listens to Jesus. It’s not that I don’t want to listen, but I feel its important hospitality to take care of guests.

Though this is understandable, we are admonished to be still and know that he is God,

Psalm 46:10, and listening is better than to offer a sacrifice. Ecclesiastes 5:1.

Though I don’t think it’s wrong to be a proper host, it’s not nearly as important as it is to be a proper student.
