2479) Age is a funny thing. If you ask my young scholars their ages, they will say something like, “I’m 10 and ½”. Ask an adult woman, you might get a number, but it won’t be, “and a ½”.
When I read about the event of Moses and the burning bush in Exodus 3, I read that God tells Moses who he is. He says his name is I Am.
When you think about age and but it together with I Am, it’s communicating that God has always been, is now and will always be. This is a mind-blowing concept, and yet, when I put this together with Jesus’ words, it is significant to me.
Jesus said his name is “I Am” as well. He said, I am the Bread of Life, the Light of the World, the Door, the Good Shepherd, the Resurrection and the Life and the Way, the Truth and Life.
When Jesus says, “I Am,” he has always been the Bread of Life, is currently the Bread of Life, and always will be the Bread of Life.
It’s comforting to know how unchanging God is. He’s always there. He’s always guarding. He’s always listening.
There is comfort in consistency.
