Another phrase came to mind after reading 2 Peter 3:18. The saying is, You catch more bees with honey than with vinegar.
Peter tells us to grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord. What I feel is significant here is that God tells us to grow in grace, not in judgment, not in rule-keeping, not piety. So I then ask myself why.
I think the answer lies in Romans 2:4. It is the love of God that brings people to repentance. Love and grace are what brings amazing eternal change. They attract more “bees” than vinegar.
