Oranges and Such

2419) In many years of my life, I lived in the South, which often produces the best fruit around. Two of these years, I lived in Florida, and we had orange, grapefruit, and lemon trees.

The oranges we picked off the trees didn’t look like much. They had blemishes on them, and yet they were the best oranges, while those in the store weren’t great.

I think of the oranges when I read Matthew 7:15. Here, Jesus is telling us to beware of false prophets because they wear sheep’s clothing to disguise themselves.

It’s prudent to listen to those who hold power in politics, homeowner’s associations, and in our churches because you can’t always tell the good oranges from the bad.

If you feel you’re not qualified to do this well, seek qualification. Read and meditate on scripture. Weigh people’s words. Always watch out because some wolves’ disguises are very realistic.
