2397) Much safety we feel is really perceived. Yes, seatbelts are important for safety, but do they completely save? Just because you have a seatbelt on, does this mean nothing can hurt you?
What about locks on your house? Yes, it’s important to lock up your house, but does this keep out a thief who really wants to break in?
Psalm 4:8 gives us safety in all circumstances because it reminds us God gives us peace in our daily lives because we are not alone.
Does this mean we will be difficulty-free? Of course not, but the peace God gives us is not threatened by circumstances. By faith, even when we visit the Valley of the Shadow, we can trust God is with us and will never leave. This is not perceived safety; it is perfect peace.
