2324) I knew someone once who was wronged by another. All of us in this person’s world knew about it and were sympathetic toward them.

As the days and months passed, this person could not let this wrong go. They became consumed with it.

It made me wonder if this person had any clue about what they were doing to themselves in their pursuit of making the offender pay.

As I watched this unfold, my heart filled with sadness because this person began carrying two burdens: what was originally done and the consuming fire of vengeance.

God knew these burdens are too heavy, and they also spill onto the shoulders of people who come in contact with the bitter.

Because of this, God offers a huge and compassionate gift. He tells us in Romans 12:19 he will repay the “offenders” of this life so we can put down these heavy burdens. Letting go is possible because God is there to deal with the actions of others against us.
