Plaited
2291) If you have been a long-term reader of these “minute” devotions, you’ve learned a lot about me. Here’s something you don’t know. I can “plait” or French braid my hair but cannot do other’s hair. Usually, people can do others’ but not their own.
Plaiting involves taking strands of hair and braiding them, adding more hair to each one as you go.
Genesis 15:6 has gotten me thinking about plaiting. The verse tells us he (Abraham) believed the Lord, and he counted it to him as righteousness. The word for “counted” in Hebrew is chashab which can be translated as plaited.
What I see of significance here is that “righteousness” (or right-ness) is plaited or braided within Abraham’s life. In other words, all parts of Abraham’s life held righteousness.
Having righteousness woven into every part of my life is something I truly desire.
