2267) I can’t think of too many things that are more horrific than losing hope. I have met three people recently who have said they have lost this.
If you lose hope, you have nothing to give you reason to keep moving forward. You can feel lost, broken, bitter, angry and any other emotion that can hit your soul like a hurricane.
I have teetered on the verge of losing hope and did not believe I would ever experience joy and peace again. Because of this, I want to pass on some thoughts to any of you who may be in this difficult place right now.
Romans 15:13 tells us God is the author, creator, and instigator of all hope. His hope isn’t equivalent to standing on the edge of a cliff, closing your eyes and hoping someone will catch you.
Instead, this verse tells us he longs to give us his hope, because it brings joy and peace. You don’t have to close your eyes and hope. God promises it.
This hope, which brings joy and peace, isn’t necessarily a feeling, though it can be. It is a stillness that comes within that God is in control and he will be with you every step you take.
This verse also says the Holy Spirit has the power to give hope.
Need hope? Ask the Holy Spirit to give it to you in whatever way is best.
You have not because you ask not. James 4:2.
