2254) Our long-term plan was to move to Maine eventually, so in the years before our move, we would bring stuff up from down south to store here until our relocation time.
We had a building on the premises where we stored things, and it was broken into twice, and then our camper we later stayed in during our summers was broken into as well.
It’s a bad feeling to have something you own broken into and things stolen and destroyed. It leaves a feeling of vulnerability that doesn’t fit well in a heart that seeks peace.
I think of this when I read Proverbs 25:28. It tells us that a person without self-control is like a city that gets broken into because its protective walls have been destroyed.
Self-control is a superpower because it’s hard to nurture and grow. If it were easy, we’d have a world full of people who had control of themselves. Yet, God still urges us to practice it.
It may not be something we will naturally do, but self-control is worth practicing.
