When the Fight Is No Longer Possible

2208) Conflict and problems are, unfortunately, part of this life. Therefore it’s a useful ability to learn and practice how to fight.

I’m not referring to fistfights, but those situations when you really need to and should fight for yourself and/or others.

But we also know there are times when the conflict, problem, grief, and sorrow is so overwhelming and lasts for such a long time that you might feel the desire and ability to fight has left you.

It’s in times like these God is able to show up in your life and fight for you.

Exodus 14 tells us of a horrifying situation the Israelites were in. God had just led them out of Egypt, and when they thought all was well, Pharaoh showed up with his men to capture them and take them back to slavery.

Here were God’s children, hemmed in by the Red Sea on one side and a rising dust cloud signaling their approaching captors on the other.

Verse 14, however, is important to note. Moses says, The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.

It doesn’t matter how desperate you are, how bad it looks, how empty and weak you are. Be still. God will fight for you.
