Approval

2150) My young scholars are constantly looking for my approval.   What do you think of this, Mrs. Grant? How did I do? Look what I had to do in my other classroom. Is this good, Mrs. Grant?   There is nothing wrong with these statements or questions. It’s normal to want to please others.   When it becomes a problem is when we find ourselves only seeking to please people. It’s when much of what we say or do is with one goal in mind; to please those who are around us.   Is this a bad thing? I don’t think it always is, but John 12:43 tells us we are to seek God’s approval first.   God sees things within us that people cannot, so it’s logical to strive to please God rather than people.

One is a short-term goal, the other can last into eternity.
