Answering the Call

2113) The ring of a phone demonstrates Pavlov’s dog study which concluded dogs (and humans) can be conditioned to respond immediately to specific things.

Consider this conditioning. When our phones ring, or whatever we have programed into it to announce a call, we’ll often look immediately at the phone.

When we do receive a call, we take a few seconds to analyze the screen and determine if we want to answer or respond to it.

What I think is noteworthy here is when a call or text comes, we make the choice to respond.

I believe this statement highlights one of the beautiful aspects of God’s relationship with people. He does not force himself on us.

In Mark 3:13, Jesus called people to him, but these people still had to make the choice to answer this call.

A call is important to hear, and we must answer it to continue the relationship.
