In the End

2099) I have a friend, “Helen” who knew someone who was looking to move into a better home and with excitement, showed Helen a place she had found. This person walked through the rooms with Helen, pointing out things she liked.

Weeks down the road, this person found out they could not secure a loan to buy the place and was deeply disappointed. A few days later, Helen decided she liked the place and bought it.

When her friend found out about it, she cut off all friendship with Helen, citing she was hurt by this. Helen has no understanding of why this friend ended their relationship.

She couldn’t understand her friend’s hurt. Seeing Helen buy anything she wants, traveling the world and more, was difficult for this friend who couldn’t do any of these.

Most of us know people who seem to have wealth beyond what we do and instead of breaking off ties with them, we can realize the wisdom of Psalm 49:20.

Here, the Psalmist tells us people can boast of their wealth, but they will die, just like others and no material thing is going with them into eternity.

We can choose to focus on what we don’t have or focus on the wealth we do have spiritually.
