2098) One of my favorite books I read with my young scholars is Shipwreck at the Bottom of the World by Jennifer Armstrong. It’s a book which traces the unbelievable journey of Sir Earnest Shackleton and his crew, who successfully survived almost 2 years in the frozen Antarctic waters.
With a crew of 27 men, Shackleton led every person to eventual safety and one of his leadership tactics was, whenever there was danger, he always when first. Shackleton illustrated to his men that he was fully vested in their safety.
Psalm 48:14 tells us God will guide us until we die. The word guide in Hebrew is nahag, and it translates as leading away, a similar picture of what Shackleton did.
Every step we make in this life, God has gone ahead of us, clearing the way of things we can’t even imagine. Dare to ponder this. How many negatives did God prevent? How many positives did he create?
Knowing we are following God’s footsteps each day gives us security and direction.
