Molding

2074) When I was a kid, my parents got me some cans of Play-Doh. I loved rolling it out, taking the lids and pushing them into the colorful dough.

I’d carefully pull it out of the lid and I’d have an almost perfect mold of the shape and its markings.

I think of this when I read Romans 12:2. Here, Paul instructs us not to be conformed to this world. That word, conformed, means to be molded.

What I see in my mind is not allowing my self, thoughts, words, and values to be molded by the world who live a lifestyle which is often opposed to God’s word.

Paul goes on to say we need to be transformed, formed again by God as a result of renewing our minds.

This is the very thing God does when he makes us a new creation spiritually. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

The mold the world uses is flawed and even evil. Why would I want to be molded by something like that?
