2006) I was studying the 23rd Psalm recently and two familiar words caught my attention: green pastures. Where I live in coastal Maine, we have a short window when we see green pastures. In fact, in winter, you can even have a difficult time picturing it in your head.
As I contemplated these two words, I thought of another familiar saying: the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. This saying is based on the fact that not all of our grass is green; it’s often brown.
Not so with God. His pastures are always green, providing all we need beside still waters.
Our green is temporary, but God’s is not.
