1156) In my language arts classroom, I assign spelling words each week. The routine is on Mondays, the kids get a scrap piece of paper and I call out the new words, one at a time. They write them down as they think they are spelled. After this, I go through each word, spelling them correctly and the kids must jot down the correct spelling of the words they got wrong. What’s interesting to me is most weeks, when I am spelling them correctly, a student will say, “Aw, I missed it by one letter.” I will gently remind them if a word has one letter wrong, it’s still wrong. There really isn’t an ‘almost’ in spelling. Either it’s spelled correctly or incorrectly.
This same thought can apply to our faith and what we stand for. Either we do what we profess or we don’t. Yes, I know the Christian walk (and being human) is a series of good choices versus bad, yet in practicing what you preach and standing firm, either you do or you don’t.
Standing firm for something is a choice; so is not standing firm. Isaiah tells us if we don’t stand for our faith, we communicate God is not important to us.
What and who are you standing for? Isaiah 7:9
