What is discernment? It’s the ability to comprehend things that are not easily understood and to have insight into what may lie beneath the surface of people’s actions. This understanding and insight would do many of us well. We would be able to more successfully predict outcomes of many behaviors.

In Acts 17:13, understanding and insight would be an asset. It says here that when Paul and Silas arrive in Thessalonica, there were groups of people who specifically go to hear the men preach just so they could agitate and stir up the crowd. If we ask God for understanding and insight, perhaps we could squelch many such situations, and avoid or discount them.

We are living in a time when discernment is vital. Ask God for discernment; he knows how important it is.
