2400) When I was reading through passages in the Old Testament, I came across 1 Chronicles 29:11. Reading it, I gasped because I was unfamiliar with a verse which holds so much spiritual truth.
Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all. (ESV)
As I think of these words, I know I must take several minutes to focus on all the truth listed here.
First, the verse tells us God is great. When I think about individuals, whom I have considered great, what was it about them that drew me to this conclusion?
It’s often found in the things people have done that have continued to produce good even after they died. Abraham Lincoln is one such person; Mother Teresa is another.
When we consider that God is great, it’s much more than this. The Hebrew word, gduwlah, means to be eternally great, dignified, and able to produce mighty acts that reach into eternity.
Nothing or no one can come even close to this greatness. To even consider we have a God who is completely connected to and orchestrating each moment of my life and, at the same time, doing this for everyone else, past, present and future blows my mind. God is great.
