Pep Rally

2398) I loved pep rallies when I taught high school. The energy and enthusiasm in a gym with 1200+ kids was palpable.

It seemed that the athletes were charged as if hit by lightning bolts. The pep band played with huge decibels of sound. Those of us in the stands couldn’t wait to watch the slam dunk contests and the cheerleaders’ routines.

When I read Zephaniah 3:17, it seems like these words should be shouted in a spiritual gym.  The “cheerleaders” (us) should be shouting the words.

God is in our midst.

God is the mighty one who will save us.

God rejoices over us with gladness.

God will quiet us by his love

God will exult over us with loud singing. Just because many of us no longer pour into a gymnasium for a pep rally doesn’t mean you can’t host one.
