Just Barely

2392) I know I’ve written about this before, but I want to revisit it because it’s something I struggle with and maybe you do too.

Isaiah 41:10 tells us many things about what God does for us. One of them is, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (ESV). He will hold me up.

What I struggle with are the times when (I’m assuming by faith) God has held me up and yet, in my mind, when I look back on the situation, I realize I just barely made it. In other words, God just barely kept me from destruction.

I think it’s interesting I disqualify this fact when a time of just barely happened. It’s almost as if I’m saying, well, God got me through this but just barely. This really isn’t a victory because it was so close to my collapse.

When I’m thinking clearly, I know the fallacy of these thoughts and I remind myself of how much more peaceful and thankful I could be if I embraced the fact that just barely is all I need.
