2382) I lived for several years in the beautiful state of Virginia. Rolling green hills, beautiful farmland, acres and acres of crops. The motto of Virginia (at least when I lived there) is Virginia is for Lovers.

Though I don’t think Virginia’s motto is what John had in mind in 1 John 4:8, we will be recognized as a child of God by how we demonstrate God’s love to others.

Does this mean if we don’t always choose the loving thing to say or do, we aren’t truly God’s child? Of course not. In this life, we’re still sinful, but what is important is that we have a pattern of godliness. Perhaps a better motto is, Heaven is for Lovers. Just a thought.
