2376) I have a friend who is trained in specialized care. When I came to her in need, she gladly helped me – for nine years.
Never did this friend ask for money nor say she was tired of helping. In addition to this, she often helped with other needs I had, unconditionally.
Because of this, I decided to do something really special for her. The decision was made a year in advance, and during that time, I couldn’t wait for the day when I could finally give it to her.
When the time came, she was overwhelmed by the honor I gave her.
I think of this when I read Matthew 7:11. Jesus said, if you know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father give good things to those who ask him?
I think of the joy I had while making a plan and carrying it out. When I recall the depth of my friend’s joy, I remember this is just a partial illustration of the joy God has while giving to me, day after day after day. God’s good gifts are more than, greater than anything we can give.
