Company

2351) Benjamin Franklin once said, guests, like fish, begin to smell after three days. Franklin understood that company is best in moderation.

When I read Proverbs 13:20, I understand this doesn’t just apply to kids we wish to steer toward friends who do not influence them in bad ways. It also applies to adults.

Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.

No matter what our ages are, it’s prudent to pick wise people to spend time with as opposed to the company of the foolish.

Does this mean we don’t interact with these foolish people? I don’t think so. We are called to be the salt of the earth, and interaction is good. I think the emphasis is the time and confidentiality we spend and give should be considered regularly.
